Fools?

In A Raisin in the Sun Mama refers to Booker T. Washington and also George Murchison as, "fools" because they both only care about the inside of the box, they don't care about what's outside. Like when George says "You read books—to learn facts—to get grades—to pass the course—to get a degree. That's all—it has nothing to do with thoughts." on page 97. They don't see the importance of going to school, of getting an education. They just look at the general point of view, not the detailed point of view. Both of them were trying to help the Blacks, but failed miserably, trying to change the way life was.

Mama knows that Blacks are of "lower class" compared to the Whites, however she calls them fools, due to the fact that she knows this knowledge. So she calls them fools even though she knows why they are trying.

In literature many characters search for a better way of life. One of them is a character that is searching for a better life, Ruth. She is searching, on page 91 when Mama announces that she has bought a house, Ruth responds with "PRAISE GOD!" that is also on page 91. Ruth flares up with excitement because she wanted a big change from her current life. She wants her life to change, the place she lives in, how she shares that place with other people, how bored she is with her life. She attempts to change her life by trying to talk to Walter, trying to understand him, and trying to see the best in people, but sometimes, its just impossible.

Another person that searches for a better way of life is Walter. Walter searches for a better way of life by trying to invest in a liquor store, however Mama forbids him to do so on page 71 when he argues with Mama, "Walter But, Mama, you ain't even looked at it. Mama I don't aim to have to speak on that again." He searches for the best for his family, he searches to fulfill his dream, he wants to make everyone happy. He wants to invest in the liquor store very badly, he wants to be a successful person in life. He attempts to change his life by trying to get Mama to give him some money, he argues in what he believes is right, he is trying to convince Mama to look at the liquor store and maybe she will change her mind. He doesn't think that Mama understands how much he wants to be a successful man. Many characters search for a way to change their lives.

School

Hello, today I'm positive that its the 32nd day of break and also the last one.

So here I am writing a post on the day before school starts. I'm glad we get to see friends and teachers once again, but it won't be like break, where you can forget most of your worries until school starts again. What to bring, what to eat, what to talk about, these things are typical things, I think them, my brother thinks them, everyone thinks them. Starting tomorrow, I won't have as much time for myself as during break, but its better than nothing, right?

Anyway, I'm doing this while waiting for my brother and father to finish cleaning the bathroom. Again we watched a show, but a different one. (I know you are bored of me saying we watched stuff) Its called "The OC" and its pretty good, or so I think. Its a drama and comedy show, there are many characters that play a big part, such as Ryan, Marissa, Sandy, Seth, Kristen, etc. My opinion is it is great, I think that the story line makes sense and also the characters definitely know what they're doing. I suggest maybe watching a few episode online, and maybe you might turn out wanting to watch more. Some parts aren't the best but you can skip it. (That's what we did) So whenever you're bored, try looking it up. Its just a suggestion, you don't have to okay? Just do whatever you feel like, or that you're allowed to do. :)

"X Files"

I still don't know how many days have past since break had started, I'm guessing its the 25th day.

Today I woke up, and now here I am watching "The X Files" (Its a show). Of course I'm not watching alone, I have better things to do, I'm watching with my family. Since today is Sunday, I have to spend time with my family, I don't really have a choice. Sometimes its exciting and sometimes its plain boring, but I put up with it for my family. The show is about UFOs and extra terrestrials, two main characters, and many events that continue on for a while.

We might be going to the theaters, but my brother's stomach isn't feeling very well, so we're not sure if we should go. We were thinking of watching "Avatar" if my brother gets better, and other than that we might go out and look around. I know what you're thinking, "This person has a pretty boring life." and I can't blame you, I think so too. I hope that the next week will be more exciting and fulfilling to live.

Hooray!

I can't even remember what day of vacation it is, I think that its Day 15 or something along that line.

Today, at midnight, it was New Years Eve, I stared outside looking at the fireworks that took place outside, (I live on a hill) watching so many fireworks go off around midnight. My brother and I turned on the TV, and to our "surprise" we saw the crystal ball thingy on "CNN". People counting down with fireworks shooting from the sides of the screen, "3...2...1...0!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!" screamed everyone on TV. Excited to see fireworks everyone saw the fireworks when it counted down to 0. Everyone happy, and celebrating, this was a glorious day. So here I am, typing about the mixture of colors, the gunpowder smell, filling the air, and me, laying here after watching fireworks and screaming people and etc. Now I just want to get some sleep, so I'm signing off, until next time reader.

Not So Bored

Day 5

These days I'm finding things to keep me occupied. Such as, television, videos, and well, I don't know, checking my e-mail. I'm not as bored as I thought I would be, but I'm still bored. Tomorrow I have to go to the orthodontist, I'm not looking forward to it. Usually after I get my braces tightened, ugh, it hurts a lot. The days ahead of me have nothing to look forward to, nothing exciting and well, just pain, lots of pain. Right now I'm crammed in my bed, browsing the internet and writing on my blog. Too bad I don't have a TV in my room, then again I have my laptop, that keeps me occupied.

Also right now my brother is watching a show called "Chuck", he says "Its really funny, you should watch it, have you even watched a full episode?" He spends all his time watching that and playing on his Nintendo DS. I'm talking about my brother because I have nothing new to say other than I'm bored. My dad is really making me and my brother mad because he keeps trying to make us do his homework. Hes like "Okay, both of you have to do one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon." but usually we just don't do it. Well thats pretty much all thats going on, *lucky people that have stuff to do*.

Bored To The Power Of 10

Day 1 of vacation.

Here I am, bored, today I have played with my brother, slept, watch tv, and there's not much more to do. Sometimes I just have fun, even if its just talking about interests. Right now, I'm bored, my dads at work, my moms doing something in the house, and my brother, on his laptop searching through his three soundtracks, for a song that he wants from the show "Bleach". I am so bored, now usually by now I would be desperate and watch "Bleach", but right now, I don't feel like it. Sometimes I watch it for fun, while waiting for something to happen. Ugh, I'm so bored, I'm just sitting in my house doing nothing, I'm thinking of watching some movies, but all I have are old movies.

I would even do homework if it would keep me busy. (As long as the homework doesn't keep me busy for too long.) I have nothing to do, I'm thinking of painting my nails too, when watching tv, but I don't know if thats such a good idea. Well, I've got nothing to do but say all the things that make me bored, and I don't think that you want to hear the rest of my mind. For all you people traveling, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW LUCKY YOU ARE!!
