The Nice Breeze

*Buzz buzz* went my alarm in the morning. I dragged my dreary body from bed, and found the energy to stand. I gripped the table next to me to support my numb legs. I walked into my brother's room and woke him up. Soon I was walking in my father's room (the master bedroom) to go into the bathroom. I slowly-quietly walked towards the bathroom door. I took my daily shower dreading that I couldn't go back to my comfortable bed. I exited the soaking shower area and got ready for school. I brushed my hair, brushed my teeth, put on my shoes and lastly spread facial lotion onto my face.

Now all to do left was to wait for the bus to pass by our house (It then turns around at the dead end.). After about five minutes my brother got fed up waiting and decided to wait outside for the bus to come. I followed him bringing both of my bags outside. We both placed our bags on the car and waited. The morning breeze felt so nice and made me feel calm. Soon the bus came and before I knew it I had my bags on my back and was entering the small bus. I was on my way to school.

Circle of Fun

All five of us sitting in a circle after being rewarded Capri Sun and a bag of candy. Everyone in the class ran the day before and we all ran 4 laps in a time period of 13 minutes, so today we were rewarded for our effort. We also were rewarded two days of P.E. that we get to chose what to do. So Mari, Nysha, Violeta, Yeji, and I sat in a circle as our choice. We all talked and laughed together while sucking the lollipops and drinking our Capri Sun from the juice pouch. We all had fun laughing together and telling some stories. This was a happy time, where we laughed and smiled.

Until it was time to leave the class, we all had fun and went into the lockers to retrieve our bags. We left the lockers and made our ways to our own buses. Soon I got on mine and thought that I would use this memory as an important topic. I enjoyed my time in that class today, it was so much fun to just hang out and chill.

Exam of Boredom

"Let's go mom! We're gonna be late!" I screamed with my hard hands cuffed in a circle. I ran down the stairs after brushing my hair until it had no knots or rough spots. She walked up the stairs dreadfully. A pig she wasn't but, a turtle with knotted legs she was. I laid on the couch thinking of what my hard-working brother would say to me if I was late or maybe he wouldn't say anything, because he wouldn't even be there if I was more than thirty minutes late. He was at school taking a practice exam, a 3 hour exam. He said that he "had" to take it, or else he would fail the class. Apparently everyone in his class had to take it. My mother came downstairs...finally.

We got in the car shortly after my mother told me not to set the alarm. I brought 2 chocolate bars of the brand "Twix" while my mom brought 2 ice teas. We left the house and arrived at school. We waited for my brother to come out, and then after many people left he came out. I told him we had to wait for him and he didn't care. He was just overjoyed to have finished that difficult test, though he didn't really show it. We were on our way home, until I accidentally told my mother to go the wrong way. However my mom knew the way home when we reached a mall, or something. I was happy when we got home and ran upstairs to finish homework.

"What a waste of time." I thought to myself. I only went because my mom doesn't know how to get to the school, and because my brother would totally scold me if my mom got lost on her way to pick him up. So here I am typing on my ordinary laptop about the horrible 4 hours of today. It was a boring day with a long rush hour.

Strike Strike Hit!

My friends and I, Mari, Violeta, Nysha and Yeji. We were all in P.E, waiting and waiting until we were called to bat or to be the catchers. First Violeta hit the softball, and then second was Mari and soon it was my turn. I gripped my other hand tight, tight enough it felt like a pinch. I slowly walked towards the home base, and held the bat that was weighting on my shoulder. I stood there thinking "What if I can't hit the ball?" and I waited for Coach Henter to pitch the ball. I swung, and missed then I waited again for another pitch, after some people were arguing if I was still in or if I was out. They decided that I was still in.

Shortly after the coach sent another circular shape just like the first, and yet again I swung the bat missing for the second time. Soon it was time for the third and final pitch. I laid the bat on my shoulder once again, and swung trying to hit the ball, finally and luckily I actually hit it. I ran towards first base and accidentally slipped, running back to the base but, didn't hit the hard ground. I had actually succeeded in hitting the ball, I felt joy, soon the class was over, and everyone was heading to the buses. I got into mine, and started staring out the window, the game was completed.

Lunch of Metal

I slowly walk down the short staircase from the second in attempt to see someone I recognized downstairs. When I arrived in the Wolf Room, I walked to the table with Mari, Nysha, Yeji, Luciana, Sofia, Katy, Mae and Catarina. I could recognize Catarina and Mae's belongings on the table, and shoved Mae's bag a bit near her lunch box, I slowly turned my head searching for Mae and Catarina, shortly after I found them and sat down in the chair.

I mostly stayed quiet while they were all talking. They laughed and talked while I quietly ate my lunch, although I laughed a bit. I ate a bit of chicken with rice and realized I wasn't hungry, the rice was hard, and the chicken was dry, so I put away my food, and drank my juice. I finished my cookies and sat there listening to Mae and Catarina, while Mehr was conversing with the boys at the other table. Soon it was time to leave, and so I was on my way to math, with my lunch of metal, just like it was when I put it away.

Fools?

In A Raisin in the Sun Mama refers to Booker T. Washington and also George Murchison as, "fools" because they both only care about the inside of the box, they don't care about what's outside. Like when George says "You read booksto learn facts—to get grades—to pass the course—to get a degree. That's all—it has nothing to do with thoughts." on page 97. They don't see the importance of going to school, of getting an education. They just look at the general point of view, not the detailed point of view. Both of them were trying to help the Blacks, but failed miserably, trying to change the way life was.

Mama knows that Blacks are of "lower class" compared to the Whites, however she calls them fools, due to the fact that she knows this knowledge. So she calls them fools even though she knows why they are trying.

A Raisin in the Sun

In literature many characters search for a better way of life. One of them is a character that is searching for a better life, Ruth. She is searching, on page 91 when Mama announces that she has bought a house, Ruth responds with "PRAISE GOD!" that is also on page 91. Ruth flares up with excitement because she wanted a big change from her current life. She wants her life to change, the place she lives in, how she shares that place with other people, how bored she is with her life. She attempts to change her life by trying to talk to Walter, trying to understand him, and trying to see the best in people, but sometimes, its just impossible.

Another person that searches for a better way of life is Walter. Walter searches for a better way of life by trying to invest in a liquor store, however Mama forbids him to do so on page 71 when he argues with Mama, "Walter But, Mama, you ain't even looked at it. Mama I don't aim to have to speak on that again." He searches for the best for his family, he searches to fulfill his dream, he wants to make everyone happy. He wants to invest in the liquor store very badly, he wants to be a successful person in life. He attempts to change his life by trying to get Mama to give him some money, he argues in what he believes is right, he is trying to convince Mama to look at the liquor store and maybe she will change her mind. He doesn't think that Mama understands how much he wants to be a successful man. Many characters search for a way to change their lives.
